THE DVD's ARE COMPLETED!!!

I'm sorry I waited so long for the cast parties!!!  I really wanted to hand out the DVD at the party so I had to wait until it was finished.. Jason has finished editing it and has sent it to someone to duplicate for distribution.  I should have them on Thursday next week...

SO

When is our cast parties??

FRIDAY, April 25th!!!
CAST "A" 3:15-4:30
CAST "B" 4:45-6:00
DVD's will be distributed... Thanks so much!!

The Parties will be IN MY ROOM as the stage will have computers in them....

I will purchase pizza for each party, but, wondered if a parent would be willing to pick it up and bring to the parties for me?? I will give you the money for it, if you could do that for me...  There will be computers in my room as well and I will need to get them taken down and moved so we can have our cast party...

Also, we will serve "water" for the party!!

If there is anything you are willing to bring to the party, snacks/brownies/cookies  we would not send them away!! LOL

Thanks so much for your extreme patience while we waited for teh DVD's... I haven't seen them yet, but, I KNOW they will be amazing..

Please shoot me a text with your name and how many DVD's you ordered just so I KNOW I have a DVD for you.

LOVE YOU ALL!!!

Sunday, March 16, 2014

Wow...  What an AMAZING run!!!  I am still in shock!!!  This was one of the most memorable experiences I have ever had as a director. I cannot believe what your children were able to deliver on stage with their acting and vocals!!!  I CANNOT wait to see the DVD's so I can watch both casts and see what the audience saw!!  Tears as I type this.. I have loved directing your children in this production.... It exceeded all my expectations... I hope you were equally as blown away as I was...

Few things....

DVD Orders
It is not too late to order.. If you still want to order a DVD please bring in your cash, check or use PayPal (steps listed in prior post).  I will close out orders by Monday NEXT week, March 24th... One week left.  I ordered one for the school, and myself personally... Cannot wait to see it!!
Just in case I don't have everyone listed, please respond shoot me an email privately and let me know if you ordered a DVD, how many you ordered and how you paid... Cash, Check or PayPal..
Jason is ridiculous!!  He said to me on closing night, "I want you to know that I filmed for "every" parent and cast member... I didn't just focus on your six leads in every scene.  I wanted every parent who orders a DVD feel like their child was represented".  He had a camera on stage attached to my floor mic,
he had a camera in front of the sound booth plus he was filming on another camera.  He is SO excited to edit our DVD.  I literally cannot wait to see what he delivers.. You will not be disappointed!!

Cast Party
DATE TO BE ANNOUNCED LATER THIS WEEK....
There will be an individual cast party for each cast.  Same day, one after the other one.. Haven't chosen the date yet...  On an upcoming Saturday. I would like to show the cast their video, so, it will center around the release of our DVD... Teresa and I have decided on having it at the school on the stage... It will be a potluck, so, every child please bring something... More Details To Follow (check the blog)

Props and Costumes
I am actually at the school now cleaning up my room and stage, putting the props together, and organizing the costumes...

I will be taking pictures of what I have and posting it on the blog so you can see what I have left over...

RED DRESSES for my boylyn sisters.  Sarah Woolston and Emerald Haycock, please return those dresses to me in the music room
ANNIE DRESS and RED WIG.. I have "one" wig and "one" dress returned.. i think it is Breanna's?? Is it Ainsley who still needs to return hers??
MISSING PAJAMAS  If you have any of those beautiful orphan night gowns, please return them to the music room.

TONS OF CLOTHING!!

I have a TON of clothing which was left in my room, in the bathroom, in and around the stage..Rather then put it in a lost and found in a red and blue costco box in my room, marked Annie.  It is sitting in front of the smart board... There are shoes, skorts, pants, shirts, sweaters, socks, etc... a pink folder.  Too many to email each of you directly.  If you have emailed me looking for things, please come rummage through it... Next Friday March 21st all contents will be put in the lost and found...

Again, check the blog for props that have been left... I have two flashlights (Mr. Welsh, unfortunately one of the flashlights is missing something inside of the lightbulb part.  Don't ask me what child took it apart then  assembled it without all parts.. Let me know if you need me to replace this.. I feel sick about it!!!
Here is what is left on the tables as of now:
Basket that the apples were in
Plastic apples
3 silver platters
Pillows- Falanchi and Laurence I see your names on one pillow each... (Kyra Dunshee donated tons of old pillows, but, I want to make sure no one else left pillows that need to be returned)
Green scarf used on Warbucks
Wheel Chair (Wirthlin's.  Thank you so much for allowing me to use this for Gabrielle while she was recovering.  I appreciate it more then you will know)
Red Usherette Cap
Black/Grey newsie's hat
Purple Scarf
Red Table Cloth (Hope this is yours)
Table (Hope this is yours)
Awesome flower thing for the Break-a-Leg booth (Hope do you want this back?)

Yellow tattered teddy bear (anyone claim this or want it back?? if not, I'll keep it for future shows)
Red and Gold winter small santa looking bag
Black/Pink Dog Leash
Dog Noses - fits on the face, over the ears... I'm sorry but one of the elastics broke... It will be an easy fix if you have elastic... Thanks for letting us use it..
Sheets and Bedding... I'm taking everything home to wash them this weekend...(some are the schools)... Did anyone else bring blankets or sheets besides me?
Padding that went on our beds, like a bed roll?? I don't know what it's called.  Yellow Foam that makes a bed more comfy, a couple of these (Wirthlin's your name is on one... Did you bring the other egg shell pad also)
Tie-child's clip on: Dark blue with aquamarine polka dots
White Silk looking Dress shirt... This is not in the lost and found because it looks like it was rented.. It is a button down girls shirt with pretty circular buttons

That's about it for now... I will email or update the blog if I find anything else lying around or if I need to communicate anything further..

Thanks again my friends.. I feel so much closer to not only my students, but to you parents... I love you all!!  Thanks for letting me love, yell at, direct, hug, encourage and play with your children!!!

xoxo Jules

OH MY HECK

Before I launch into what is going on this week, I wanted to take a few minutes to thank everyone who has helped put together this amazing production.  Teresa and Greg Watts, Aaron Wilcox, Nikki  Nelson, Erin Carlson are my DREAM production team, I hope you are ready to do this again in a year!!!  ALL of you parents who worked endless hours sewing, building, creating, painting, child-sitting, candy and water buying...the list goes on and on.. To many to name, but, know you are ALL more then appreciated!!! It has been an amazing adventure going through our Annie production together...

It is my belief that if you set the bar higher then high, kids -no matter what age- will "always" meet that expectation.  And your children have far exceeded what I expected of them...  If you haven't watched any of our rehearsals, you are in for a gigantic surprise!!!  THEY ARE AWESOME!!! Our set is amazing.... Our props are amazing.... Our SHOW is amazing!!!!

Wednesday, March 5, 2014

Yesterday's rehearsal with cast B went AMAZING!!!! It was 1000% because we had three parents back stage... It is absolutely necessary to have two parents helping back stage with rehearsal.  No one has signed up yet... I know it is a loooong time away from your other kids and household however, I would greatly appreciate the help.  If I can put a parent on a specific job, the rehearsal will be AMAZING!!!

It frees up me up to direct from the floor, and Teresa and Nikki to concentrate on set changes, mic changes and getting our kids in place at the correct time!!!!!

Hopefully we can get a couple of our amazing parents signed up to help at not only rehearsals, but during the shows!!!!  Also some of the shows I've worked in the past, parents have been backstage during the OTHER cast  performances so they could sit in the audience on their kids' performance night.... Just an idea...

Just click the top link on the right!!!!  Volunteer opportunities!!!

Thanks everyone!!!' And thanks to the three amazing parents who helped tonight!!!!! Woo Hoo so happy !!

Cast B is tonight!!! Woo Hoo

Both cast parents..

Backstage is chaotic and crazy!!!!!!
This is a quick email requesting back stage help not just during rehearsal but during our performances....... I need two to  four STRICT parents back stage with cast B tonight, and every night. Same goes fir cast A!!! There will be two scripts for all volunteers to look at... In order for Nikki Teresa and I to change mics and make effective scene changes, we someone on the kids, telling them where to go, reminding them to get their prop etc...

Help!!!   I mean thus us a legitimate SOS call my friends!!!!!!

Teresa and I will direct you further once you are at rehearsal.

Thanks

Also I had hop put pizza on the snack list for we'd and Thursday.  There us no tine to eat during these rehearsals.  I will
Have snacks on a table. They can pick through them through out rehearsal as long as they don't litter and are on stage with props at the correct time!!!

Let me know.  Hope. Take off pizza. Add snacks .. And please please please add 4 spits for nightly parent volunteers starting TONNIGHT through the show!!!!!!

Thanks everyone!!!!

Sunday, March 2, 2014

WOW What a rehearsal yesterday!!!!

Cast "A"  has run through their show COMPLETELY "two" times!!!  Awesome job guys!!! Next week will be gravy!!

Cast "B" has made it through 3/4 of their show twice.  This is because some of the kids are still having a hard time with their lines and their cues... What is a cue line?  Someone elses line "before" your line.  Some of the kids don't know when to come in.  But once I say the first word of their line, they will immediately recite their entire part....  I am going to email each parent specifically on these students...

Both casts had an amazing rehearsal today.. Their characters are RIDICULOUS!! SO GOOD!!!  I love watching them act!! I love watching them sing!!  I JUST LOVE BOTH CASTS!!!  I literally cannot believe I am directing these kids... I've directed professional theater with a few kids, high school theater, junior high school theater, but never 3rd and 4th graders.. Best experience ever!!!  Think of how prepared they will be once they choose to do this in junior high or high school??!!  LOVING THIS!!

BOTH CASTS ARE REALLY DOING WELL!! You are going to be amazed at their talent, especially considering we have only had a handful of rehearsals... with a double cast, I have only been able to work with each cast "1 hour 15 minutes every week and with all of the breaks we've had, it has been only about 10-12 rehearsals.. This is a MIRACLE that they are able to accomplish this production!!

It is SOOO fun to watch them... I literally CANNOT WAIT until you see their performances!!!  I have butterflies just thinking about opening nights... Hard to think that two weeks from tonight, this show will be over :(  boo hoo hoo!!! (What will fill my Thursday afternoon void??? Guess it's time to put together a Summer Theater BootCamp!!??!! ha ha)

WEDNESDAY after 10:30, we take full control of the stage...  Meaning, there are no more assemblies until our show is over so we have permission to 1) black out the walls 2) hang our backwall 3) hang our mics 4) Set up the entire sound system, and the list goes on......   After Rehearsal on Wednesday or during school Thursday or Friday is when we will be taping up the black poster paper to the side walls and hanging our backdrops...

Unless you have already spoken to me about missing rehearsal next week (Byer and Hoge) EVERYONE should be to their specific rehearsals!!! (Harpers hopefully Melissa can make Monday AND Tuesday rehearsal this week?)
MONDAY-THURSDAY is a FULL TECHNICAL and FULL COSTUME REHEARSAL (no make up til Saturday)
What is a Full Tech Rehearsal? This means the spotlight tech will be present (Aaron Wilcox), our sound technician and assistant will be there (Greg Watts and Gabee Snarr), EVERY prop and set piece will be present (if you signed up for something and haven't brought it, please bring it), We block the curtain call, etc.. and we run the show start to finish as many times as we can...

SATURDAY March 8th......
FULL TECH, FULL COSTUME, FULL MAKEUP REHEARSAL!!!

Since we don't have professional lighting on the stage, I am "NOT" requiring our boys to wear makeup... Just so you are all aware, NORMALLY even the guys would wear foundation, blush, eyeliner and mascara.  This is to help audience members WAY up in a balcony or in the back row on the floor, see facial features on every character when those spots and gel lights hit them.... Our amazing flourescent lights would just make the boys look like drag queens ha ha..
GIRLS HOWEVER are a different story.
MAKEUP REQUIREMENTS for Saturday March 8th AND ALL SHOWS:This is based on our flourescent lighting.. It would be a little different if we had professional lighting :)
VIDEOS and PICTURES FOR HANNIGAN AND GRACE ARE ATTACHED TO THE CAST TELLING YOU TO LOOK AT THE BLOG!!
ALL ORPHANS
Foundation- Shade darker than skin tone
Blush-brownish/natural looking
Brown or Black eyeliner
Mascara (not heavy, just to color the lashes)
**Dirt Smudges ALL ORPHANS NEED DIRT EXCEPT ANNIE (there isn't enough time to make her "pretty" and remove the dirt)
Dirt smudges is done with dark brown eyeshadow ... (here is a tutorial, however, I do NOT want it as dark as her cheek, but it teaches you how to do dirt smudges http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gdr6iVHHYcU )

ORPHAN HAIR IDEAS:
crooked pigtails
low pigtails with baseball hat (if using a baseball hat it needs to be bobbypinned on!!)
messy ponytail in back with a few strands out of pony
pigtail braids
crooked pigtails
Messy high pigtails or ponytail
Betty-crooked pigtails
Simply wear hair down but messy

*** Hair does not have to be perfect!! I am going for a "messy orphan" look!!

MISS HANNIGAN
Hair and Makeup: She would wear pretty intense makeup.  Obviously she does "not" go for the natural look. You could even pencil on eyebrows, bright lips and cheeks and kinda messy eye makeup... Attached some pictures for reference.. These are for reference only.  You decide what you want to do with your hannigan.. EVERYTHING you come up will be perfect, I promise.. I have been Hannigan 3 times in my life and every time I've created a new look.. Have FUN with this one!!

GRACE
Hair and Makeup: Grace is ELEGANT, put together, classy, graceful.  Her makeup is exactly as you would put your make if you were going out to the opera.  foundation, blush, eyeshadow, eyeliner and BLACK mascara.. Lots of Mascara.. I want her eyes to pop on stage!! Her hair can be up or down as long as it is "perfectly in place".  I've attached pictures for reference.

LILY and MRS. MUDGE
Hair and Makeup: Makeup is heavier then normal every day makeup. She is very trashy looking... Blue / Pink Eyeshadow.  HEAVY black eyeliner and THICK mascara.  Heavy blush. Red lipstick.  When she changes into Mudge, Red lipstick should be replaced with a natural lipstick and her blush should be rubbed into her checks with her hands, so it almost disappears.. eye makeup will stay the same for both characters.
Her Hair should be curly curly curly for the Lily portion of the musical, then put in a low, top of neck bun with an old hat or drab scarf for Mrs. Mudge.  Miss Nikki, Teresa and I will ALL be back stage to help throw Lily's hair into a bun during the show... Make sure to send Lily with her own natural lipstick. We will keep it in my desk throughout the production so no one else can touch it and we know exactly where it is at all times!!!  Also send bobby pins.. I have a ton, but, in case I forget or they get all used up, make sure you are prepared with bobbypins.

SERVANTS (BOYLYN SISTERS)
Hair and Makeup:   Their makeup is exactly as you would put your own makeup on if you were going out to the opera.  foundation, blush, eyeshadow, eyeliner and BLACK mascara..  Hair: Should be well kept, like a low bun around the neck..  If not long enough for a bun, then straightened.. A maid wouldn't have curly hair..   Boylyn Sisters... You all have your dresses (if you were at rehearsal on Saturday).  If you want to get a headband at all a dollar and add feathers or something to match your dress with white, red and black feathers, that would be AWESOME!! This would dress up your head and not bring attention to the fact that you are all servants!!  You will NOT be on stage during the mansion scene that turns into the radio scene so you can change into your dresses.. however, after your scene, you literally have 2 minutes to change back into your servants outfit... This is a FAST change... We will go over it on Monday!!

ARE YOU KIDDING ME?

I AM LITERALLY FREAKING THE HECK OUT JUST READING "12" DAYS LEFT!!!!!

Ahem.... Is this thing on?? ARE YOU HEARING ME PEOPLE!!???!!??  ONLY "12" days... You read correctly... "12" ... Read it "twelve" DAYS LEFT til opening night... (insert very loud, very dramatic scream) AAAAGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHH

Before I begin this post, can I just say how cute Teresa and I look in our picture in New York on the right... She and I were there 1 1/2 years ago together.. We shared a room, we shared food, we went to famous restaurants...We experienced MANY things in New York, ha ha.. I love that we experienced NY together, I love that we are directing Annie together and I love you!!! (as the girls in our musical say, "BFF")

OKAY PEOPLE... Lets get serious!!!
Today's rehearsal was chaotic but fun...
Note to a few of Cast "A" parents and MOST of CAST "B" PARENTS!!! Some of your kids are still not memorized... I AM DESPARATE for your help at home... I NEED these kids memorized by Saturday for our rehearsal.. I literally cannot run a rehearsal at this stage without the kids knowing the lyrics to the songs.. If you need me to send you an audio file for NYC, shoot me an email.  I will send it to you immediately... PLEASE go over lines with your kids and MAKE your kids listen to the CD.  They do not know the words to NYC!!!  Honestly, it is desparation now... I am literally asking you to  "HANDCUFF your children to their beds... LOCK them in their closets... SIT ON TOP OF THEM SO THEY CAN'T MOVE!!! Whatever it takes to get them memorized by Saturdays rehearsal... This is an absolute MUST!!!  (thanks for your help and ignore the violent suggestions... they were only a joke-please no emails about my violent requests ha ha)

Other then memorization BOTH casts had an awesome rehearsal... There is a LOT of start and stopping.. Figuring out who is carrying what "off stage" and who is bringing what "on stage"... Everyone was SO willing to help and anxious to get the show running...  I love it!!

Saturday Rehearsal Requirement:
EVERYONE MUST BRING THE SHOES they will be performing in...  Not costumes on Saturday.. We are still working out the kinks and figuring out set changes... Costumes would only complicate things Saturday, HOWEVER Costumes will be worn starting MONDAY and TUESDAY at rehearsal!!  So be ready with costumes on Monday!!

DINNER/LUNCH ON SATURDAY:
Anne-Marie Bishop is bringing in Pizza on Saturday for cast A... and
Forgive me, but, one of you amazing parents from cast B took money for Pizza but I forgot to write down who it was.  Can you please email me or text me (801-865-7563)  Anne-Marie worked out a deal with Dominos and I would love for you to contact her and find out which Dominos and get your order through them also.  I need to get everyone $10 more for pizza.  This is a great thing!!  And while I'm on the subject.  For NEXT saturday, could you please remind me who I gave money too and from which cast?? I THINK I still need a cast B parent to help with Pizza delivery, but, I could be incorrect.  Text me asap. Thanks everyone...

SNACKS FOR REHEARSALS NEXT WEEK!! Parents of both casts.. I need volunteers to come and set up snacks at a specific time so we can eat quick and get back to work... Please contact me (and Hope maybe we can add the snacks on the sign-up genius??)  I am hoping for things like granola bars (the good kind that kids will eat, covered in chocolate), bags of chips, oranges quartered, water bottles, fruit snacks, that type of stuff... Easy snacks that can be opened, wrappers thrown away and quickly eaten, etc.. That kind of stuff. Should be no effort to bring this stuff in... I will pay for the snacks, I just need parents to bring the stuff in and PLEASE NO POP AND NO CAPRI SUNS!! WATER is the only drink I would like to see.  It revives the body especially when they are working so hard..

That's Right People, we are DOWN TO THE WIRE!!!

Can you believe it?? We open in 19 days!!
That is going to come VERY quickly!!!

Before I begin, I was going through my emails today... There were TONS of emails from you cast parents asking me about my daughter recovering at home from her car accident, Gabee.  She is recovering very, very well at home.. She will be out of school for a month... She is already stir crazy now that she is off the pain meds and fully aware of her "prison" for four weeks.  Thank you for your care, prayers and concern... She really misses coming to rehearsal, in fact she called during rehearsal yesterday begging to come sit in the wheelchair and watch the kids.. Her liver just can't handle anything right now, and the fear of one of the kids bumping her or giving her a tight hug would land us back in the hospital, so, I'm keeping her away for a couple of weeks.  Mrs. Wirthlin, I might ask if i may borrow your amazing wheelchair for her while she is at school to keep her protected??  Please know she is healing.. All is well.
OKEE DOKEE  Let's get down to bidness!!

There are a few things I need help with:
1) The date of the emergency evacuation drill has still has not been announced.  ugh..... I want to remind you all that if, by any chance this drill falls on a rehearsal day, rehearsal will still take place!!  PLEASE bring your child back at 3:00 for regular rehearsal or if it falls on a Wednesday, then please bring them back at 1:00.  I know that is annoying, but I really appreciate your support in this.

2) We are coming up on some pretty LONG rehearsals...
Saturday Rehearsals March 1st and March 8th.  During these rehearsals I would appreciate pizza brought by a cast parent.  Teresa and I have a budget set aside to compensate for the food.  We just need someone to pick it up and bring it to rehearsal at a specific time, set up and ready for the cast to grab and go... 15 minutes is all I'm allowing for this dinner break. Any volunteers?? Anyone?? :) The time for the pizza to be delivered and set up is listed below on the "updated" rehearsal schedule.

3) The week of March 3rd, Cast A rehearses Monday and Wednesday.. Cast B rehearses Tuesday and Thursday... We will "not" need dinner brought in but we will need "snacks" brought in.. Again I have money set aside for this, I just need a parent volunteer to help with this.  The time for the snacks to be delivered and set up are listed below on the "updated" rehearsal schedule.

4) Parents we cannot run these rehearsals if your kids are not memorized.  Now that we are running the show over and over again it should come more naturally. It would help if your kids can listen to the music, sing along and/or if someone in your household could run lines with the children who have speaking parts.. It is 100% necessary that they are memorized tomorrow (leads only) and on Thursdays (everyone)

Please look at the rehearsal schedule below and notice a couple of time changes...

FEBRUARY 22 "this" SATURDAY

1.
ARTISTS WHO HAVE SIGNED UP ON THE SIGN-UP GENIUS!!! I NEED YOUR HELP ASAP!!

Tina Peterson has done a fabulous job cutting out our cardboard and it is now time to get those things painted.. You can take the cardboard home or come paint them during rehearsal but I am not sure if we have all the paint colors needed.  I will look at everything tomorrow.  If you have paints at your house, that would also be great.  We have to paint a NY Subway, Taxicab, NYCity Bus, Police Car, Ticket Booth, Carriage... I am happy to send these home with you but you will need a large car to transport the cardboard in without it bending.

2.

BLOOMERS FOR THE ORPHANS!! HELP!! I really need bloomers sewn for the orphans... I can buy a bunch of material if someone can sew them.  I need a seamstress who signed up to let me know what kind of material I need to buy and what size elastic I need to buy.
Our walls are mounted to our rolling carts and ready to use at rehearsal.. I am ridiculously excited to see the kids on stage with our sets... It really bring our show to life to have these amazing things on stage.. Greg Watts mounted them onto the carts and Sara MacFarlane painted them... Honestly, I couldn't be happier with how everything is going.. This truly is going to be an amazing show my friends..

I wanted to take a couple of minutes to publicly thank you parents who have emailed, voice mailed, texted and Facebooked me regarding my daughters car accident.. I am very emotional about it.  There is no doubt my kids had angels watching over them the moment of the car accident.. They are both doing fine... I love you all for caring and supporting me through the last 10 days.. Thank you for not being upset about our cancellation of last weeks rehearsal.  and Thank you for your concern and your prayers.. I love you all :)

Our rehearsal is cancelled on Thursday...
Hey my darling parents... I am sorry for such short notice, but rehearsal is cancelled on Thursday this week... February 13th..
There are two reasons....
1) for those of you who have not heard.. my two daughters were in a car accident Monday coming home from the elementary school... Izee, my seven year old is perfectly fine other then a nasty seatbelt burn, a few cuts, bruises an d some tender parts on her body.. She was literally saved by the seat belt....PEOPLE BUCKLE UP YOUR KIDS!!!
My other daughter Gabee (who your kids know, she has been at most of our rehearsals and choreographed one of our orphan numbers, "you're never fully dressed without a smile") Gabee had a more serious injuries from the crash.  She has been in the hospital since Monday.  I THINK (cross your fingers) she is coming home tomorrow or Friday but I am really not sure... More details of this accident are on my facebook page.  Feel free to ask to be my friend on Facebook if you are interested to read it...
With that said, I will be at the hospital all day tomorrow...

Now Teresa could take the rehearsals no problem, however there is another extenuating circumstance.....

2) There is a culminating activity that day that has asked us to clear the stage completely... which means Teresa would be left alone to set up the stage back up with all the platforms and EVERYTHING else needed to run the play completely, which is an impossible task to do alone... That is a two man job, even possibly three...
with that said :)
There is NO REHEARSAL tomorrow, the 13th of February..
TWO IMPORTANT DETAILS
COSTUMES are due NEXT WEEK if you are not checked off already.
PARENTS, THIS MEANS WE NEED TO MAKE SURE EACH CAST MEMBER IS COMPLETELY MEMORIZED IN BOTH SCRIPT AND IN MUSIC FOR OUR REHEARSALS TO RUN SMOOTHLY "NEXT WEEK" ...

Thank you for understanding my cancelling this rehearsal on such short notice...

Love to you all,
xoxo Jules

WHAT A GREAT COUPLE DAYS OF REHEARSAL!!!

Thursday we officially finished blocking our play.  It is finished.. Choreography is finished (THANK YOU ERIN, thanks Gabee) and blocking is finished!!!! WOOT WOOT
From here on out, we will run the show... and run the show.. and when we are finished doing that, we will "run the show again", ha ha... Tell your kids to buckle up-this is where the fun begins and we pull this production together!!!

Today, Saturday, Teresa and I met with both casts' leading characters... What a ridiculously amazing experience and privilege it is to work with these AWESOME kids!! Teresa and I taped on wireless mics (great idea Teresa) and watched our 3rd and 4th graders work as professional actors for the first time.. So fun!!!
 Couple of things:
1) EVERYONE MUST BE MEMORIZED BY THURSDAY!!!! Both in script AND in music... We will no longer be using the vocal tracks... It is all cast voices from now on..  ALSO we cannot run a smooth rehearsal if our speaking parts are not memorized.  Everybody MUST be memorized by Thursday!!

2)COSTUMES ARE DUE!!!  It is impossible for Teresa and I to know if you have a complete costume unless we see it with our own little eyes... We do not want the kids to put them on or wear them to rehearsal "yet", but we do need to see "head to toe" costumes.. If you have already been checked off by Nikki, Erin, Teresa or I, then you are finished!!  Great!! SIDENOTE:  Thursday, some kids were sent home with a note listing items they still need!!  Let Teresa or I know if you are having problems finding anything for your kids... And if we don't respond to texts or email, LET US KNOW AGAIN :)  If you have texted or emailed and Teresa or I haven't responded to you, Mrs. Erickson in particular, it is because I need to see what your son is doing in NYC "exactly".  I will know 100% what his costume entails on Thursday after rehearsal!! Also, if your child lost the note listing missing items, as usual feel free to text or email me.  I will let you know exactly what you are missing.

3) THANK YOU to everyone who has pitched in... I feel so lucky.. Not only do I get the opportunity to direct a show with my best friend, Teresa Watts, but, we have gotten to know all of you wonderful people better and seen your devotion to your child!!! It really is a beautiful sight.  Rollin in almost daily, we have water bottles, candy, extra costumes, sets being assembled and built, set being painted, crazy awesome cardboard things being cut out, curtains being sewn, bloomers being sewn, maids hats and aprons have been sewn, props being brought in, and the list goes on and on... I MEAN WOW!! It is really coming together... Thank you Thank you THANK YOU for all your amazing help!!!  We couldn't do this without you!!  I really do feel so lucky.  You are the most amazing parents... Teresa and I thank you for your support and love...  This sounds odd, but, this is a magical experience for me.. It really is...

4) REHEARSAL THURSDAY... Nothing has changed from last week, nor will it from now on....
